Little Johnny's: He who laughs last, laughs best. No I'm not referring
to the fact that the T Bones third straight loss has displaced them from
the top spot; although I did get a pretty good laugh out of that one. No
I'm referring to the fact that Little Johnny's haven't been in first place
all year until now. They definitely saved the best for last and can now
take the next two weeks off.

#2
Tommy Guns: After spending the first
seven weeks in the top two, a four-game losing streak not only put the
double byes in jeopardy, but the top tier itself. But they regrouped in
the final week with a solid 4VP win and finish with the #2 rank and of
course those two big byes.
#3
T Bones: After enjoying the top spot for the previous three weeks,
they not only relinquish it in the final week via their third straight
loss, but they also managed to lose second as well. Now there's nothing
wrong with just one bye and there are 7 other teams that would love to
have one, but two byes are twice as nice. After reading the T Bones'
message board post entitled "losing to cleantown," referring to their loss
to them this week that cost them the top two, well, I'm actually
speechless. I just wish I could say the same for the T Bones.

#4 Green Apple:
The first half of the season things were falling their way as they hung
around the top two positions. The second half however they struggled just
to stay in the top tier occupying no higher than fourth since week 5. They
were unlucky to play the Team of the Week recipient this week when they
needed a win most, but as it did early in the season circumstances fell
their way, and even with a loss they earn an all important bye.
#5 Commish East:
If the Boys of Autumn had scored just one more point and Cleantown three
more, Commish East gets a bye. Not in playoffs but in the Consolation
Tournament. Even though they finished with the 5th rank, that's how close
they came to the 9th rank.

#6 Rebels: Although they were
seventh in East points after seven weeks, they were 6-1 and in first place
in the standings. Since then however they must have lost their rabbits
foot because they haven't won another game losing their last four. Because
they now don't have a bye they can't afford to make it five in a row.
#7 Justice:
How could they be first in East points yet seventh in the standings? The
same way the Rebels were seventh in points yet first in the standings,
weird science! After putting up with this difficulty through the regular
season, Dave's frustration boiled over this week when it looked for a time
that he might not even earn a wildcard. His phone call to me entailed an
ultimatum of he either at least earns a wildcard or he's out next year. I
fear a lawsuit if they go one and out in the wildcard round.
#8 Cleantown:
As strange as the East race has been is also as close as it has been. So
it's only befitting that the final wildcard in the East was decided by
some extraordinary events and the closest score of all, a tie. And of
course it all went down in the fourth quarter of a Monday night game. At
the end of the day Cleantown's postseason life came down to who won the
Commish East - Boys of Autumn game. If the Boys won Cleantown was out.
After a series of fourth quarter events that included a defensive TD that
put the Boys ahead; points scored against that defense that put the Boys
behind; 1 point for an interception that put the Boys back ahead; a
successful coaches challenge that overturned the interception that took
the point away; after all that there was 1:44 left in the football game
and the Boys of Autumn were tied with Commish East. The Boys had Jamal
Lewis, Buffalo's defense and 1:44 to score one point for a wildcard. In
that time Lewis failed to catch a pass, even though he went out in the
pattern several times but wasn't thrown to, or gain 5 more yards he needed
for another point because they didn't hand it off to him, and although
they came close a couple times, real close in fact, Buffalo failed to
intercept or get a sack and the game finished in a tie. How do I know so
many details about this game? Because I thought I was the one to be
knocked out if the Boys of Autumn won until the next day when I discovered
that Cleantown only earned 2VP in their win putting them on the hook for
this game and not me. I got three more grey hairs for nothing.
